New Media Week Opening: September 3, 7 pm
Art Week Round Table: September 12, 7 pm

Galerie And presents Späti Stories, an exhibition by New York-based Belgian artist, musician, and filmmaker Daniel Jodocy. At the center of the exhibition is Berlin-Kreuzberg, a documentary in which Jodocy, who has lived in Berlin for the past three years, films six senior members of the city’s counterculture community, most of them regulars at a particular Späti in Kreuzberg. Speaking in their homes and at sites meaningful to them, they tell their stories: of life before and after the fall of the Wall, of artistic projects, of unconventional lives built largely outside the economic mainstream, and of a community defined by creativity, friendship, and refusal of the dominant culture. The film is shown in the gallery’s screening room on a regular schedule throughout the exhibition. In the gallery’s street-facing space, Jodocy presents a sound installation evoking the atmosphere of the Späti itself - a place to sit, listen, have a beer, and talk with friends. Together, the two rooms create an environment that honours a way of life rapidly disappearing from Berlin: counterculture as a genuine creative community built around the sharing of ideas and the sharing of time.
The music in the film is by the Dizzy Ventilators, a group Jodocy co-founded. Editorial support came from Croatian-French documentary filmmaker Veljko Vidak.
The exhibition is part of the official program of Berlin New Media Week (September 2–6, 2026)
